Artist Statement

As an artist, I have always thought of myself as a free bird.  I love experimenting with different materials and exploring different ways to express ideas.  Often, I find myself adding different symbols into my art to capture subtle emotions that still need to be heard.  My art is personal. It is my journey in images that I love the most about my work... feeling connected to the message it conveys.

I am a painter, drawer, ceramist, explorer.  My decision to use certain materials often reflects how it is connected to what I want to say and how I feel.  Art for me is the small delicate details that graphite can bring, or the dramatic contrast charcoal can portray.  It is how painting can leave playful colorful brushstrokes as well as overlapping layers of texture.  It is how clay can bring form and textures to life as well as entice the viewer to handle it. I love the interaction and conversation art can provoke through materials and images, as well as the emotions it vocalizes.

In life we have to discover our way... to create our individual path.  For me, that unique path is full of reflection, life lessons, and images that often translate into my artwork.  Art is what I do, it is who I am.
